On the Shore

Character artwork practicing composition and environment painting techniques.

I wanted to try a new style for painting the beach shore, focusing more on creating a 'feel' for the whites, rather than extreme detail. I think I achieved this and am very happy with how the background turned out. I also learnt more about creating cloud shadows during this project, which I feel has helped with my realism and lighting.

Using my character 'Ase' I wanted to return to old roots, and go back to what initially got me into drawing- horses. I am extremely happy with how the tail turned out. There is some deep character lore between Ase and the Crow, who's name is Rae Ven (yes that is a pun), in which the bird is his familiar.
